Dear friends,

I’m writing to let you know some news.  As you may have heard, my husband Chad and I will be welcoming our newest family member and first child into the world this June!  We are so excited about this next season and all of the newness and joy that will come with it.  Over the last few months, I’ve spent some time praying and thinking through what this next season will look like for our family and for ANEW.  It’s become really clear to me that now is the right time to pass the baton and transition from my role as Executive Director to serve as a Board member at ANEW.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve ANEW and our guests over these last six years.  Together, we’ve seen the organization grow and expand from one focused primarily on temporary relief as an emergency shelter, to now a robust, comprehensive, innovative approach to ending the cycle of homelessness for vulnerable members of our community.  Most importantly, together through your partnership we’ve seen those struggling and in crisis discover hope, support, and lifelong change to start ANEW!

This work has been a real life calling for me and a personal passion to empower those faced with poverty toward a new future.  I’m so excited for ANEW Place in this next chapter and I look forward to still being engaged and involved in the mission and work of ANEW, which continues to be so near and dear to my heart.

Over these last few months, our Board of Directors and I have engaged in a thoughtful and intentional process to discern what this transition will look like for ANEW.  I’m pleased to let you know that a long-time community partner of ANEW Place, Kevin Pounds will be coming on board as our new Executive Director and my successor.

Kevin has been a real friend and supporter of ANEW over the last six years, coming alongside us in countless ways to further our mission in the community.  Kevin has served in church leadership and pastor roles for the past 25 years and has founded and led two nonprofit organizations.  He is a visionary and servant leader, who loves equipping leaders and serving those on the fringes.  He is passionate about the mission and vision of ANEW Place to offer an opportunity for those struggling with homelessness to find hope, transformation, and belonging.

Kevin will begin with ANEW Place on April 17th and will work alongside me through the end of May to create a seamless transition.  I am so proud of the many things that ANEW Place has accomplished over these last several years and I’m filled with such joy to think about the way that this organization is poised to make an even greater impact in the Burlington community in the future.

I’m thankful for so many community members, partners, and friends who have come alongside and supported me and ANEW Place in this worthwhile work!  I am grateful to have been entrusted with leading this organization over these last few years and can’t wait to see what will enfold in the coming years!

Thanks and blessings,

P.S.  Keep an eye out for a post in the coming weeks, where Kevin will share a little more about his passion and calling to this work at ANEW.
