Volunteer Opportunities

Provide a Meal
Every evening, our guests share a meal generously provided by community members, local churches, and businesses.  This is a great opportunity to visit ANEW Place, meet a basic need of our guests, and foster caring, supportive relationships with those in need.  To sign up for an evening, or to find the answers to our most frequently asked questions, check out our Meals Calendar and use the built-in contact form. Alternately, you can always reach us using any of our quick message forms, by clicking on info@anewplacevt.org, or by phone at 802.862.9879.

Become an Evening Volunteer
The Evening Volunteer provides interaction and oversight for the guests who are staying at ANEW Place. Evening volunteers are crucial in furthering the shelter’s mission of working together as a community to meet the needs of all people who come through our door. Evening Volunteers provide encouragement and support for guests, maintain house rules, and a safe environment, as well as overseeing the evening meal and evening activities. To find out more, contact us at volunteer@anewplacevt.org, or by phone at 802.862.9879.

Become a Mentor
All participants in our ANEW Leaf Program are paired with a community mentor, who acts as a friend and advocate, bridging the gap between shelter and independent living.  This is a new opportunity in the development stage that will be available soon as we have more ANEW Leaf participants. To find out more, contact us at volunteer@anewplacevt.org, or by phone at 802.862.9879.

Volunteer at the Burlington Warming Shelter
Volunteers are needed for the Burlington Warming Shelter. The warming shelter will operate during the winter months and is a low-barrier shelter for homeless adults in Chittenden County. As a community we are committed to making sure no one freezes on the street on Vermont’s coldest nights. With your help, we can create a supportive, compassionate environment for vulnerable members of our community. Volunteers are needed for morning and evening shifts. Training and ongoing support is provided. Sign up online at: http://anewplacevt.org/warmingshelter/

Volunteer for Special Projects
There are many other opportunities to get involved in one-time projects or ongoing service here at ANEW Place.  We are often seeking volunteers for special events, teaching a class for our guests, providing rides to and from work, offering resume assistance, and helping with cleaning a maintenance projects to keep our space beautiful and clean for our guests.  For more info, contact us at volunteer@anewplacevt.org, or by phone at 802.862.9879.
